About

More famously known as 'Boston Stump' or 'The Stump', St Botolph’s has been a sacred place of worship and hospitality for over 700 years. The inside of the church is simply stunning and well worth a visit and it also has one of the tallest medieval towers in the country, boasting a staggering 272 feet high structure.

St Botolph’s story is one deeply ingrained within Boston's history; it has been used as a landmark by sailors and travellers for centuries, past the miles of flat fenland that surrounds it, guiding them to this shining jewel in the charming historic market town of Boston. To this day, St. Botolph's still towers over the town's buildings as a welcoming focal point to visitors.

Inside the church, everyone is welcome, and visitors are greeted with a host of activities for the whole family to enjoy. With digital screens that allow you to explore Boston from a birds-eye view, a Lego replica of The Stump to sponsor and help to build, maze walks, and more, you're sure to be entertained. For those wanting an immersive experience, at St Botolph’s church you can climb 209 steps for their engaging Tower Experience, the sky-line views are vast and breath-taking.

Boston UK is famously linked to the United States of America through the puritan emigrants who immigrated overseas and founded Boston, US; at the Stump, you can discover what part it played within this movement on one of their general guided tours - just make sure you book in advance.

Also located at St. Botolph's Church is The Refectory, a quaint cafe & bar located directly underneath Boston Stump's impressive church tower.

Next door at 'The Stump Gift Shop' there are a great range of artwork, toys, and gifts, that can be taken home as souvenirs of your time here in Boston. Overflowing with history, and stories that are hundreds of years old, and with plenty of experiences to have, there are many exciting moments to discover and memories to make today within St Botolph’s walls.
